The Year Seven curriculum is structured to provide the smoothest possible transition from Primary to Secondary School. Year Seven Students participate in the Red Carpet program at the beginning of the academic year. This program is an orientation program that allows students to settle into secondary school and get to know their peers, teachers and education support staff. Students learn the school values, expectations and routines that come with being a Sale College student. School laptops are allocated and students sign a laptop contract and learn how to navigate the school’s online systems.

Year Seven students attend camp at the end of Term One each year. Camp creates opportunities for students to strengthen their relationships with peers and staff. They strengthen their social connections by interacting with members of the year level that are outside of their core class group. Camp also provides opportunities for students to participate in activities that are outside of their comfort zone.

Each student in Year Seven has a Pastoral Care teacher that is the first port of call if students or their families have any questions or concerns throughout the year. Pastoral classes allow students to learn about Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy through the Resilience Project. The Respectful Relationships program is also delivered in Pastoral classes. This program teaches students to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

The Year Seven curriculum at Sale College allows students to experience a range of Key Learning Areas. The curriculum is delivered by a small core of teachers who combine Pastoral Care and curriculum in a manner which is best suited to the needs of the student.

Teaching styles incorporate instructional practices that are recognised as some of the most reliable teaching strategies for delivering learning outcomes. Teachers make suitable adjustments to tailor learning to the needs of the students that they teach.

Year Seven students study Steps in Time (English and Humanities) and Discovery (Mathematics and Science).
